Toy Rearrangement

It's important to change around your birds cage to stimulate their little minds. Having the same old toys everyday gets boring for them and leads to behavioral issues. I reassemble old toys and rotate them around and in and out of the cage at least every 2 weeks. The budgies hit it off big this Christmas... I made them a whole slew of new toys from their old ones, and even bought a new one! I'd say they have enough in there.

It looks crowded in this picture, but they do have free space in the back of the cage, it's longer than it is wide in front.

Right above the wicker wreath there's a string of dried oranges- they've barely touched these and I doubt I'll try that again. It takes forever to dry fruit!

Lentil Mash Recipe

This is one of the mash's that my birds are currently eating.

Ingredients:
-Cooked Lentils
-Fresh Broccoli
-Frozen Carrots
-Frozen Corn

Directions:
Cook lentils thoroughly- according to package directions *DO NOT add any thing else to lentils, no spices or salt or oils
Strain lentils and rinse with cold water until cooled
Add lentils, broccoli, carrots, and corn to food processor.
Chop them all up together, to the size of small pebbles
Freeze excess for the rest of the week in ice cube trays! Once it's frozen dump lentil veggie mash cubes into plastic bag or other storage container. Take one out and defrost for A FEW seconds in microwave in safe dish- and feed to hungry budgies!

Talking Parakeet

Adorable. Too bad mine will probably never talk since they're both girls.
